Mine Theft Auto: Vice City is a free Minecraft Java Edition Cops & Robbers server at minetheftauto.org. It is a persistent city where every cop and every criminal is a real player, inspired by the GTA San Andreas Multiplayer Cops & Robbers servers.
Long
Mine Theft Auto: Vice City is a free Minecraft Java Edition server for 1.21.8 or newer, releases on November 6, 2026 and reachable at minetheftauto.org. Players pick one of 12 classes, from police officer to pickpocket, hitman and taxi driver, and live in a persistent Vice City where the police and the criminals are all real players. There is no scripted police AI.
Crimes earn up to 5 wanted stars. Players rob banks (up to $1,500,000), steal and sell cars, fly planes and helicopters, buy a house and build it into a mansion, start gangs that hold turf for cash, trade on a 10-company stock market and gamble at a casino. Everyone starts with $50,000.
The server is independent. It is inspired by the GTA San Andreas Multiplayer Cops & Robbers servers and is not affiliated with Mojang, Microsoft, Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive.
What makes it different
Not a prison-escape minigame
- Most Minecraft "cops and robbers" servers are short prison-escape minigames. This one is a persistent city: classes, jobs, wanted stars, chases between real players, a bank to rob, cars, houses, gangs, a stock market and a casino.
- Cash, house, rank and vehicles are kept between sessions.
- Every cop is a player, so a chase is two people trying to outplay each other, never a scripted AI.
- It is free to join. It runs on Java Edition 1.21.8 and every newer version can join.
Get it right
Things that are easy to mix up
- Is it the same as other servers called Mine Theft Auto?
- No. Older servers have used a similar name. Mine Theft Auto: Vice City is a separate, independent server, and its only address is minetheftauto.org.
- Can Bedrock players join?
- No. The server needs a Minecraft: Java Edition account and doesn't support Bedrock.
- Which versions can join?
- 1.21.8 is the minimum. Every newer version can join.
- Is it affiliated with Rockstar Games or Mojang?
- No. It is inspired by the GTA San Andreas Multiplayer Cops & Robbers servers and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Mojang, Microsoft, Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive.
