What a cop actually does
- Patrol for pay. Take a paid route with
/patroland collect $5,000 on arrival, on top of your daily salary. - Ticket the small stuff. One to three stars means a ticket: $1,500, $5,500 or $9,500, which the suspect pays within 120 s.
- Cuff the dangerous ones. At four and five stars you can cuff a suspect within 3 blocks and take them to jail. The arrest pays $25,000 at 4 stars and $35,000 at 5.
- Pull cars over. At 4 stars and above you can pull a suspect's car over and cuff the driver.
- Confiscate drug plants for $5,000 each.
How a chase ends
A four-star arrest means 5 min in jail with $7,500 bail. At five stars it is 7 min and $12,500. Prisoners can try to escape (30% chance, with a 2 min penalty if it fails) and friends can try to break them out, so the cops have to hold the cell as well as make the arrest.

Ranks and salary
The ladder is Cadet, Officer, Officer II, Senior Officer, Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Chief, Chief. Your daily salary grows with your rank, from $500 at the bottom to $15,000 at the top.

Officers buy their own vehicles from the police garage and the police aviation shop.
